2025 Fantasy Outlook
Joseph split 2024-25 between the Blues and the Penguins, recording three assists, 42 shots on net, 45 PIM, 36 hits and 36 blocked shots across 47 contests. His second stint with the Penguins ended when he didn't receive a qualifying offer, opening the door for Joseph to sign with the Canucks. He's no lock to be in the lineup in 2025-26, but the 26-year-old may be kept around with the big club as an extra blueliner. His offense has declined in back-to-back years, and there's minimal fantasy upside in his game. Read Past Outlooks

The Blues are hoping to shore up the left side of their blue line after news surfaced that Torey Krug could miss the entire season if he undergoes ankle surgery. Joseph signed a one-year, $950,000 contract with the Blues to serve in that defensive-focused role. The 2017 first-round pick has averaged just 15:12 of ice time per game over the past two seasons and figures to serve in a similar role during the 2024-25 season when he's in the lineup.
Joseph got his first full taste of NHL action last season. He scored five goals and 21 points while averaging 15:15 of ice time across 75 games. The 6-foot-2 blueliner put 108 shots on goals while laying out 88 hits. Joseph will again be limited to a bottom-four role during the 2023-24 season and shouldn't see much power-play time. Just three of his 21 points last year came with the man advantage. His offensive ceiling is limited to something in the 20-to-25-point range.
Joseph spent most of the 2021-22 season in the minors, racking up 33 points through 61 games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The 23-year-old defender should stick with the Penguins for most of the 2022-23 campaign, but he'll likely be in and out of the lineup as a rotational, bottom-four option, severly limiting his fantasy upside.
Joseph was acquired by the Penguins from the Coyotes this offseason as part of the Phil Kessel deal and will bolster the organization's defensive prospect pool, which had become suspect in recent years due to the club's, understandable, win-now mentality. Still, the 20-year-old Canadian won't be seeing the NHL any time soon, given Pittsburgh is loaded on the back end and already has Juuso Riikola and Zach Trotman waiting in the wings. In his final junior season, Joseph notched nine goals and 38 assists in 62 games for a pair of QMJHL clubs. At this point, only fantasy owners in the deepest of formats will want to stash the blueliner away considering how far he is from making the 23-man roster.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Leading for last blue-line spot?
DVancouver Canucks
September 19, 2025
Joseph has looked like the front-runner for the Canucks' seventh defenseman spot in training camp, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Drance cites Joseph's pace and detail-oriented work in practice as the main things setting him apart from the field for a depth role. That could lead to players like Elias Pettersson, Victor Mancini and/or Tom Willander opening 2025-26 with AHL Abbotsford. Joseph may not play regularly, but he offers more experience than the young players and a bit more speed and skill than a veteran like Derek Forbort in a third-pairing role.
