2025 Fantasy Outlook
In a contract year, Dobson had a rough campaign, though it's not all his fault. He was limited to 10 goals and 39 points in 71 games, including just 12 power-play points. There could be many explanations for Dobson's offense going down by nearly half, but the most obvious answer would be the Islanders' power-play struggles, where they ranked 31st in the league with a 12.6 percent conversion rate. Couple that with a month-long absence due to a lower-body injury, which prompted the signing of Tony DeAngelo, and it makes sense that Dobson declined. Dobson has twice reached the 50-point mark, and a fresh start with the Canadiens could help him get back into that form in 2025-26. However, he'll likely see time on the second power-play unit, as there's little chance Dobson will be prioritized over the reigning rookie of the year, Lane Hutson, with the man advantage. Returns to the lineup Saturday
Dobson (groin) will be in the lineup versus Ottawa on Saturday, according to Patrick Friolet of RDS.ca.
ANALYSIS
Dobson will return to action in Montreal's final preseason game after leaving a matchup against Toronto on Sept. 25. He struggled in 2024-25 with the Islanders, earning only 39 regular-season points. After being acquired by the Canadiens in the offseason, the 25-year-old could bounce back with at least 55 points if he remains healthy.

If you were to have a conversation going into 2023-24 about the best offensive defensemen of the new generation then you'd likely be discussing Quinn Hughes, Rasmus Dahlin, Adam Fox and Cale Makar. Dobson might get a brief mention, but as one of those other guys who are great, but not in the same tier as those first four. If you were to have that same talk today, things might be different. Dobson earned his place among those names by scoring 10 goals and 70 points in 79 contests last year. His production was a near constant for the Islanders with his only noteworthy slowdown coming towards the end of the campaign. It helps that New York leaned on him heavily with an average of 24:31 of ice time, including 2:59 with the man advantage. Dobson still needs to prove that he can replicate that level of success, but even if he does decline, it should only be to the 50-60 point range.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Trade forthcoming
Dobson could be moved Friday as part of a Draft Day trade, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
According to LeBrun, Dobson is drawing interest from multiple teams, including the Blues, Canadiens and Blue Jackets. The fact that the 25-year-old restricted free agent needs a new deal could impact the return for the Islanders, as well as the blueliner's disappointing 2024-25 campaign. Last year, Dobson managed just 39 points in 71 regular-season tilts, his lowest point total since 2020-21 when he played in just 46 outings. Still, the return for Dobson should be significant for the Isles, especially with multiple teams bidding on his services.
