Noah Cates

25-Year-Old Left WingLW
Philadelphia Flyers
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Cates contributed six goals and 18 points in 59 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign. He took a significant step backward offensively, but sitting out 22 straight games after suffering a broken foot in late November didn't help matters. He was better down the stretch, registering three goals and two assists in his final seven outings. Cates formed a solid shutdown combination with Ryan Poehling and Garnet Hathaway in 2023-24. The trio will likely remain intact for the upcoming campaign, and the 25-year-old Cates should bounce back offensively with around 25 to 30 points. Read Past Outlooks

Cates had two assists, two shots on goal and three blocked shots in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Devils.
ANALYSIS
In the third period, Cates had the primary helper on Bobby Brink's power-play goal and Travis Konecny's empty-netter. The 25-year-old Cates has compiled nine goals and eight assists in his past 19 outings. He has 10 goals and 22 points through 43 appearances this season.

The Flyers gave Cates a full-time role a year ago and he responded. Appearing in all 82 regular-season games, Cates posted 13 goals and 38 points, including eight with the man advantage. Yes, Philadelphia was going nowhere in terms of the playoff picture, but the fact a veteran coach like John Tortorella was willing to trust Cates with nearly 18 minutes of ice time per game (17:46) is a very positive sign. The fantasy value here isn't much, but Cates is a lock to begin the upcoming campaign in a top-nine role for the club.
A four-year star at Minnesota-Duluth, Cates, a fifth-round pick of the Flyers in 2017, finally signed with the club this past March and was immediately promoted to the NHL roster. He played in each of the team's final 16 games, tallying five goals and nine points. The numbers look great on paper, but Cates' 21.7 percent shooting percentage will never last, so don't expect a repeat scoring performance over the course of his first full NHL campaign. Cates is an option in deep dynasty formats, but that's about it.
