2025 Fantasy Outlook
Despite a significant injury history, Ehlers has been productive offensively throughout much of his 20s. He was limited to 69 regular-season outings with the Jets in 2024-25, but he still finished with 24 goals and 63 points, which marks the eighth time in nine years he's surpassed the 20-goal milestone. He's also hit the 60-point mark in back-to-back seasons and four times in his career. Now heading to Carolina with a new six-year contract, Ehlers should see an increase in his ice time compared to his average of 15:48 over the past three campaigns. It wouldn't be surprising for him to feature on the first line and top power-play unit. There is an element of risk here due to his past injuries -- especially as the 29-year-old enters the back half of his career -- but the move to Carolina also presents him with an opportunity to surpass his career high of 64 points if all goes as hoped. Lands six-year deal
Ehlers agreed to terms on a six-year, $51 million contract with Carolina on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Ehlers is coming off back-to-back 20-plus goal campaigns, including the 2024-25 season in which he still managed to rack up 24 goals despite playing in just 69 regular-season contests. With his new club, the 29-year-old winger should immediately slot into a top-six role in addition to joining the No. 1 power-play unit. Ehlers' presence in the lineup should allow Taylor Hall to drop down to the third line, where he may be better suited at this point in his career.

Ehlers ran into injury troubles during 2021-22 and 2022-23, but he was healthy last year, resulting in him scoring 25 goals and 61 points across 82 contests. Those are fantastic numbers for a player who averaged 15:52 of ice time -- no player recorded more points while logging under 16 minutes per game last year. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the 28-year-old was given a bigger role in this campaign, but that's not something you can count on happening. His past injuries are also something of a concern even if he was able to play through the full campaign last year. Ehlers is an interesting one, because there is that element of risk there due to his health, but there's also the potential for him to make a noteworthy jump in production under the right circumstances. Pencil him in for 50-60 points but make him one of the first forwards you take in that range because of that upside.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Close to signing
Ehlers is close to deciding which team he will sign with as an unrestricted free agent, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Johnston believes Ehlers has narrowed his options down to a few teams. The 29-year-old had 24 goals and 63 points across 69 regular-season outings with the Jets in 2024-25. He's easily the best unrestricted free agent remaining and should feature on the top six and first power-play unit for whatever team he decides to join.
