Snags one-year deal
Shaw signed a one-year, two-way contract with Winnipeg on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Shaw should have a decent shot at securing a spot on the Opening Night roster, but he's far from a lock considering the two-way nature of his deal. If he does earn a spot, it figures to be in a bottom-six role that is unlikely to come with much, if any, power-play ice time.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Shaw missed a big chunk of the 2023-24 campaign as he was recovering from a torn ACL in April of 2023. He finally inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild in February and had a goal and two assists in 20 contests the rest of the way. The Jets signed Shaw to a one-year, two-way contract in early July. He will have to beat out David Gustafsson and Jaret Anderson-Dolan to become the fourth-line center and heading into training camp, that could be a longshot. Look for Shaw to start the season with AHL Manitoba, assuming he passes through waivers if sent to the minors.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

May not get qualifying offer
Shaw, who will be a restricted free agent this offseason, could end up on the open market if Minnesota decides against giving him a qualifying offer, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Shaw was limited to just 20 NHL games this season in which he generated one goal on 21 shots, two assists and 29 hits while averaging 8:11 of ice time. It's not impossible that the Wild would reconsider after the initial burst of signings, but it seems the team isn't interested in going to arbitration in order to keep the 25-year-old center under contract.
