Two more years in Beantown
Khusnutdinov has signed a two-year, $1.85 million deal to remain with the Bruins, the team announced Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Khusnutdinov was traded to the Bruins at the trade deadline from the Wild, and he turned more ice time into almost the same amount of production in way fewer games. He had five points in 18 games with Boston after posting only seven points in 57 games with Minnesota. The 22-year-old's new contract is a one-way deal, meaning it's safe to say that he is in the driver's seat to earning a spot in Boston's bottom six.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Khusnutdinov started the 2023-24 campaign in the KHL, but after recording six goals, 20 points and 45 PIM across 55 contests between St. Petersburg and Sochi, the Russian forward inked a two-year, entry-level contract with Minnesota in February. After joining the Wild, he recorded a goal, four points and six PIM in 16 contests while averaging 13:07 of ice time. The 22-year-old should start 2024-25 with the Wild, probably as their third-line center, but he might not be a regular on the power play. Although he has some offensive upside, Khusnutdinov doesn't have an especially high ceiling, and it would be best to regard him as a potentially solid role player instead of a high-end prospect.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Unlikely to join Providence
Khusnutdinov is not expected to join AHL Providence for the Calder Cup Playoffs, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Khusnutdinov has logged 17 games with the Bruins this season since being acquired from Minnesota prior to the trade deadline. In those appearances, the 22-year-old blueliner notched two goals and two assists. Given his age, it's somewhat surprising the team isn't going to have him get minutes in the AHL postseason, leading to speculation that he might be playing through a minor injury.
