ANALYSIS
Brown had 11 goals and 29 points in 33 regular-season outings with AHL Syracuse in 2024-25. The 27-year-old hasn't played in the NHL since 2022-23 and will probably spend most, if not all, of the upcoming season in the minors.

Unable to find his way over parts of four years in Ottawa, Brown spent the past two seasons in St. Louis, and while he looked better (six goals, 17 points in 69 games), Brown's production and overall effectiveness was still quite minimal. Brown predictably found little interest in free agency, ultimately inking a one-year, two-way deal with the Lightning. The 25-year-old seems ticketed to begin the upcoming year in the AHL, with multiple injuries to the Tampa Bay forward group likely his only chance at earning consistent playing time at the NHL level.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Could wind up in desert
The Coyotes will likely claim Brown if Ottawa puts him on waivers, Shawn Simpson of TSN 1200 Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
The Senators are hoping Brown earns a roster spot with a strong camp, but the 2016 first-round pick will likely be traded or waived if he doesn't. If the latter scenario comes to pass, Arizona is a sensible landing spot for Brown. The rebuilding Coyotes are desperate for young players with upside, even if the most of the luster has come off the 23-year-old Brown as a prospect, and he's friends with the team's two best young players in Clayton Keller and Jakob Chychrun. By the same logic, the Coyotes could also opt to trade for Brown, as the asking price would probably be minimal.
