2025 Fantasy Outlook
Burroughs is valued for his physical play, but that isn't always enough to keep him in the lineup. He suited up in just 33 regular-season games and none of the Kings' playoff contests last year. Burroughs earned three assists, 42 hits and 39 PIM, so he can be a source of the tough stuff if he plays regularly enough. Heading into 2025-26, his primary competition for playing time is Brandt Clarke, who is expected to step up into a top-four role with power-play time, so Burroughs is unlikely to be in the lineup until injuries impact the Kings' blue line. Placed on injured reserve
The Kings placed Burroughs (upper body) on injured reserve Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Burroughs sustained an upper-body injury during Tuesday's preseason game against the Mammoth and will be forced to miss at least the first week of the regular season. However, he's unlikely to play a significant role for Los Angeles this year, even when he's healthy.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Burroughs is in a tough spot for the 2024-25 campaign after an offseason trade sent him from the rebuilding Sharks to the playoff-competitive Kings. He's one of four right-shot defensemen on LA's roster, but he'll need to play his role better than one of Brandt Clarke or Jordan Spence to stick in the lineup regularly. Burroughs offers a different skill set based on grit compared to the younger and more skilled Clarke and Spence, so Burroughs' playing time may be based on matchups rather than quality of play. He offers little in the way of offense after putting up a career-high eight points in 73 games last year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

PP time likely to remain minimal
According to Sheng Peng of SJ Hockey Now, coach David Quinn believes he was previously putting too much on Burroughs' plate, which suggests the 28-year-old blueliner's time with the man advantage will likely remain minimal going forward.
ANALYSIS
Burroughs averaged 1:31 of ice time with the man advantage per game through the first 15 contests of the season before sitting as a healthy scratch against Florida on Tuesday. He returned to the lineup against St. Louis on Thursday, and while Burroughs logged 20:46 of ice time in that contest, none of it came on the power play. Burroughs was essentially previously seeing power-play time out of necessity, but with Calen Addison now in the fold after being acquired by San Jose in a trade with Minnesota on Nov. 8 and coach Quinn recently expressing Burroughs' role needs to be reduced, he likely won't see much, if any, time with the man advantage moving forward. Either way, Burroughs has yet to pick up a point while going minus-12 through 15 games this season, so there's no reason for fantasy managers to have him on their radar.
