Poirier (undisclosed) will not be an option for Carolina in Friday's preseason contest against Florida, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.

Poirier's chances of getting into the lineup at some point during the preseason seem to be decreasing by the day -- the youngster currently does not have a timeline for his return. The 2024 fifth-round pick is only 18 years old, so he has plenty of time to develop his game once he's ready to return. Poirier was well over a point-per-game player with Baie-Comeau of the QMJHL in 2023-24, banking 82 points in 68 regular-season contests.
