2025 Fantasy Outlook
It was a roller-coaster 2024-25 season for Klingberg, who missed nearly four months of the season with a hip injury, returned to the lineup only to get injured again, and then came back to be a key piece on the blue line during the Oilers' run to the Stanley Cup Finals. The 32-year-old played 19 games in the postseason and picked up four points in a little over 19 minutes per game in a top-four role. That was enough to earn him a one-year, $4 million contract with the Sharks, where he'll figure to play a similar role. The difference is that he might be in line for more time on the power play. His scoring has certainly diminished since his days in Dallas, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the 11-year veteran get back over the 30-point plateau in the upcoming season, assuming he can stay healthy. Dealing with lower-body injury
The Sharks announced Wednesday that Klingberg is considered day-to-day due to a lower-body injury, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite seeing a season-high 5:05 of power-play ice time during Tuesday's loss to the Hurricanes, he was held without a point for the first time over the Sharks' first three games of the season. He's considered questionable for Friday's game against Utah, and Sam Dickinson and Vincent Desharnais are candidates to see playing time if Klingberg or Timothy Liljegren (upper body) are unavailable.

Klingberg couldn't get a long-term deal last summer, so he instead settled for a prove-it contract with the Ducks. By the end of the year, he was in Minnesota following a trade with the Wild. He ended the campaign having accumulated 33 points (10 on the power play), 84 blocked shots and a minus-25 rating over 67 regular-season games. The defensive flaws can be explained by spending time in Anaheim, but he really didn't end up proving anything more than he had in recent years. He's good for a little more than 0.5 points per game and can run a power play, which is likely all the Maple Leafs will look for from him after signing him to a one-year contract in July. A potential power-play role could prove fruitful, but at best, Klingberg's likely to land in the 55-60 point range with little other production in 2023-24.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Could practice soon
Klingberg, who is dealing with an upper-body injury, might be ready to return to practice Sunday or Monday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Klingberg returned from a long-term hip injury last season, appearing in 11 games in which he generated one goal, three assists and 19 shots while averaging just 17:15 of ice time. Considering Klingberg hasn't even reached the 20-game threshold in either of the last two years, it's hard to know what to expect from the veteran over a full 82-game campaign. Still, if Klingberg can avoid any lengthy injury absence, fantasy players should be happy with 30-40 points this season.
