Will not get QO
Lauko will not be tendered a qualifying offer and will become an unrestricted free agent July 1, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Lauko battled injuries but played 56 NHL games last season, scoring five goals and adding six assists. The 25-year-old, who was a pending restricted free agent, will now be free to sign with any team without penalty as an unrestricted free agent once free agency opens. His injury issues might scare some teams off, but he proved to be an effective player who brought speed and skill to the bottom six when he was in the lineup.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A former top prospect in the Boston system, Lauko appeared in 60 games for the Bruins last season and didn't show much. He managed just two goals, 10 points and 176 hits. Still just 24 years old, the B's dealt Lauko to Minnesota in late June in exchange for Vinni Lettieri and a swap of fourth-round draft picks. The odds of Lauko developing into a quality NHL player are slim at this point, but he's certainly a worthy dice roll for the Wild when you take into account all it cost them was a journeyman in Lettieri. Lauko will go about attempting to win a spot on Minnesota's fourth line in training camp.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Will play for Czechia
Lauko will participate in the 2025 IIHF World Championship with Czechia, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Coming out of the 4 Nations Face-Off, Lauko was limited to just three points in 19 games before ending the year with three points in his last four outings. After starting the year with Minnesota, Lauko appears to have settled in with Boston as he produced almost the same number of points in less than half as many games. Lauko will likely be trying to secure his spot on Czechia's 2026 Winter Olympic roster.
