Jackson LaCombe

Jackson LaCombe

24-Year-Old DefensemanD
Anaheim Ducks
2024 Fantasy Outlook
As a 22-year-old rookie last season, LaCombe recorded two goals, 15 assists and 55 shots on goal in 71 games for the Ducks while averaging 19:23 of ice time. Even with his new two-year, $1.85 million contract in hand, the strong-skating defenseman is far from a lock for the lineup on a nightly basis, especially with the addition of shutdown defender Brian Dumoulin in the offseason. Still, LaCombe will have the benefit of youth on his side, which could afford him more opportunities to earn his way into the lineup. From a fantasy perspective, Lacombe's numbers haven't been impressive enough to warrant adding him to most squads, though managers may want to monitor his play early on. Read Past Outlooks

Provides assist in loss
DAnaheim Ducks
February 24, 2025
LaCombe dished an assist and blocked three shots in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Red Wings.
ANALYSIS
LaCombe's helper was on Cutter Gauthier's first tally of the game in the second period. LaCombe remained active on the ice, providing great fantasy stat coverage with two shots, three blocks, two takeaways and a hit. The 24-year-old blueliner is up to 18 assists, 27 points, 103 shots on net and 86 blocks in 49 games this season. LaCombe has three assists in his past two games and has exceeded 25 minutes per game in both contests since the 4 Nations Face-Off. His increased ice time and value as a playmaker on Anaheim's blue line make him a top waiver-wire target in all fantasy formats.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
LaCombe ended his NCAA career on a high note, scoring nine goals and 35 points in 37 contests in his senior year with the University of Minnesota in 2022-23. With that behind him, he inked a two-year, entry-level contract with Anaheim and got his first taste of the NHL, recording one shot, one hit and nine blocks in two outings with the Ducks. Although LaCombe's offensive numbers in the NCAA are what stand out, he can play solid, positional defense too. He has the potential to be a good top-four defenseman and with the Ducks still rebuilding, the 22-year-old might find himself in that role right away in 2023-24.

Likely signing after NCAA season
DAnaheim Ducks
February 7, 2023
LaCombe is expected to signed with the Ducks following his season with the University of Minnesota, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
LaCombe is one of the NCAA's best offensive defensemen -- he has 26 points through 28 contests this season. He was a second-round pick in 2019, and he should be in the mix for NHL minutes once he signs, though he may still need some time in the AHL over the next year or two to round out his game.
