2025 Fantasy Outlook
Forsling continues to be a rock on the Panthers' blue line, but his role doesn't often include power-play time. During the 2024-25 regular season, he earned 31 points with a plus-33 rating while averaging 22:57 of ice time over 80 games, and that constitutes a slight down year for the Swede. Forsling also missed the 100-hit and 100-block mark. His massive ice time on a high-end team leaves plenty of upside in fantasy, but Seth Jones will be the top power-play option, leaving Forsling to be an occasional option for the second unit. Expect 30-40 points and steady but not outstanding numbers all around in 2025-26 as Forsling plays his age-29 campaign. Read Past Outlooks
Adds two helpers in win
Forsling notched two assists and a plus-3 rating in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blackhawks.
ANALYSIS
Forsling helped out on goals by Mackie Samoskevich and Carter Verhaeghe in the third period as the Panthers built up their lead. Over 27 games since the start of December, Forsling has gotten on the scoresheet in just five contests, earning a goal, six assists and a minus-6 rating in that span. The shutdown defenseman is at two goals, 17 assists, 61 shots on net, 56 blocked shots, 37 hits, 24 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 51 outings overall. It's been a rough campaign for the Panthers, and it's showing up in Forsling's numbers, though he should help keep things stable on the back end.

Forsling finished ninth in Norris Trophy voting with one writer even placing him second, but from a fantasy perspective, Forsling is great, but not elite. The Swedish defenseman had 10 goals, 39 points, 43 PIM, 102 blocks and 111 hits in 79 regular-season contests with Florida in 2023-24. His most noteworthy statistic was his plus-56 rating, which was not only the best in the NHL, but 10 better than any other player. It certainly helped that he was playing for the world-class Panthers, and he should be a fantastic asset in terms of plus/minus in 2024-25 under similar circumstances. Beyond that, he helps in a lot of other categories without standing out in any of them. He won't be confused for a blueliner like Cale Makar or Adam Fox, but the 28-year-old Forsling's versatility is certainly worth something.

Extension coming?
Kevin Weekes of ESPN believes the Panthers will work to re-sign Forsling.
ANALYSIS
Forsling is in the final season of his three-year contract that comes with a $2,666,667 annual cap hit. If he doesn't ink an extension with the Panthers, then he'll become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Forsling has established himself as a valuable top-four defenseman with Florida, so it's safe to say he's earned a significant raise. The 27-year-old has two goals, five points, 11 hits and 20 blocks in 15 contests this campaign while averaging 23:53 of ice time.
