2023 Fantasy Outlook
Sandstrom served as the primary backup to Carter Hart a season ago, appearing in 20 games and posting the exact numbers you would expect from a netminder playing behind one of the worst teams in the league (3-12-3, 3.72 GAA, .880 save percentage). Sandstrom was considerably better in a small, seven-game sample with AHL Lehigh Valley (4-1-2, 2.39 GAA, .911 save percentage). The Flyers acquired Cal Petersen in a salary dump from the Kings this offseason -- the veteran goalie makes $5 million annually, Petersen would appear to be a lock to be the backup this coming season unless the Flyers cut bait, leaving Sandstrom to open the year in the minors.
