Fabian Zetterlund

Fabian Zetterlund

26-Year-Old Left WingLW
Ottawa Senators
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Zetterlund produced 19 goals, 41 points, 181 shots and 154 hits across 84 regular-season appearances between Ottawa and San Jose in 2024-25. After being acquired by the Senators on March 7, he notched only two goals and five points in 20 contests before being held off the scoresheet in six playoff outings. Zetterlund moved up and down the lineup with his new team, but he could top 20 goals and 40 points in 2025-26 if he secures a top-six role. If he plays further down the depth chart, Zetterlund could struggle to make much of a fantasy impact outside of providing hits and earning the odd power-play point. He also had 81 blocked shots last year, which is strong production in that category for a winger. Read Past Outlooks

Nets power-play goal
LWOttawa Senators
December 7, 2025
Zetterlund scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Blues.
ANALYSIS
Zetterlund found the back of the net late in the third period when the Senators had the man advantage, but that late goal wasn't enough to provide a spark and light a comeback. Zetterlund has scored five goals in Ottawa's last eight games, and this has clearly been his most productive stretch of the campaign. Prior to this run, Zetterlund had scored just one goal in 20 games.

Zetterlund didn't do a ton as a member of the Devils, recording nine goals and 28 points across 59 career contests, but he was averaging just 13:03 of ice time with New Jersey. Going into his first full season with the rebuilding Sharks, Zetterlund was given a far bigger role in San Jose, and his production ticked up as a result, registering 24 goals and 44 points across 82 outings while averaging 18:51 of ice time last season. He also recorded 71 blocks and 120 hits, giving him a bit of versatility in fantasy leagues that use those categories. Zetterlund isn't one of the Sharks' more exciting young forwards, so he may not be leaned on quite as heavily as San Jose adds talent like Tyler Toffoli, who might eat into Zetterlund's minutes. Avoid regarding Zetterlund as a strong buy-low candidate, penciling him in for 40-50 points.
Zetterlund was a key piece dealt to San Jose in the late February trade which sent Timo Meier to the Devils. He closed the year with six goals and 23 points in 67 games, although Zetterlund was horrific in terms of production (zero goals, three assists in 22 games) during his brief time with the Sharks. Zetterlund will play this entire upcoming season at age 24, so there's some theoretical long-term potential here, but as is, Zetterlund is a clear fade in fantasy circles for the 2023-24 campaign.
Zetterlund played a handful of games for the Devils early last season and then became a regular in their lineup late in the year long after the team had been eliminated from playoff contention. He was productive (eight points in 14 games) when he did suit up, in addition to averaging nearly a point per game (24 goals, 52 points in 58 games) for AHL Utica. Zetterlund is likely going to start the 2022-23 campaign in the minors, but he's proven he can play at the highest level and should get a shot at some point this upcoming season when injuries inevitably strike the big club.

Extension close?
LWOttawa Senators
June 18, 2025
Zetterlund and the Senators are reportedly close to finalizing an extension, per PuckPedia on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Zetterlund will be able to forgo restricted free agency if this deal gets done. He had 41 points in 84 games last season, though he put up just five of them over 20 regular-season contests with the Senators after he was traded from the Sharks. Still, it appears Ottawa was impressed enough to keep the forward around, though his offense will be limited if he continues to fill a bottom-six spot in the lineup.
