David Kampf

David Kampf

30-Year-Old Right WingRW
Vancouver Canucks
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Kampf provided five goals, 13 points and 50 hits in 2024-25 while being limited to 59 regular-season appearances. He missed most of the year due to injuries, but he was a healthy scratch for the majority of Toronto's playoff run. Kampf flirted with the 30-point plateau in his first two campaigns with the Maple Leafs but has fallen short of the 20-point plateau in two straight years. He kills penalties and can win faceoffs while occupying a bottom-six role. However, Kampf isn't much of a fantasy asset. Read Past Outlooks
Signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Canucks in November of 2025.
Inks one-year deal
RWVancouver Canucks
November 15, 2025
Kampf signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with Vancouver on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Kampf had the final two seasons of his four-year, $9.6 million contract with the Maple Leafs mutually terminated Friday. The 30-year-old had one assist in four appearances with AHL Toronto in 2025-26 before becoming an unrestricted free agent. The Maple Leafs couldn't find a trade partner for him, but Kampf didn't have to wait long to sign a new deal. Kampf will likely serve in a bottom-six capacity for the Canucks, but he might spend some time practicing with Vancouver before drawing into the lineup.

Having recently completed his third season in Toronto, Kampf's overall usage was down from the prior two years. He averaged just 13:29 worth of playing time, well short of the 15-plus minutes he saw in his first two seasons with the club. A depth winger and penalty killer, Kampf has never posted more than 11 goals and 27 points in any single NHL campaign. He also doesn't have a single power-play point in his NHL career. The veteran may help the Leafs win hockey games, but he won't be of any use to your fantasy squad.
Kampf hasn't missed a single regular-season game over the course of two seasons with the Leafs. He's managed just 18 goals and 53 points in 164 contests over that span, but that didn't stop Toronto from handing Kampf a new four-year, $9.6 million deal before he reached free agency. Kampf is a solid bottom-six option who helps lengthen the lineup, but his ceiling -- from both a fantasy and real-life perspective -- is almost non-existent. His biggest contribution over the last two years is shorthanded production, with seven shorthanded points in that span, but that doesn't make him an option in most fantasy formats.
Kampf arrived in Toronto last season following four years in Chicago and immediately seized a role in the club's bottom-six. He didn't miss a single game over the course of both the regular season and playoffs, posting a career-best 11 goals, 26 points and 102 shots on goal. Kampf's 15:16 average time on ice was also a new high-water mark. There's nothing to get excited about here from a fantasy perspective, but Kampf should again help the Leafs win hockey games in 2022-23.
Kampf spent four years as an effective depth scorer for the Blackhawks, and his performance in Chicago earned him a two-year contract with the Maple Leafs this summer. The Czech winger has finished between 10 and 20 points while playing no more than 70 games in each of his first four NHL campaigns. He's not likely to stand out in any single category, but he's established a solid baseline in terms of what can be expected of him -- 15 points, 70 shots on goal and 40 hits while averaging roughly 14 minutes of ice time per game. He'll likely begin 2021-22 on the Leafs' fourth line, but he could ultimately become interchangeable with Wayne Simmonds in Toronto's bottom six.
Kampf has settled into a role as the Blackhawks' fourth-line center, and he had 16 points in 70 outings last season in that spot. There's little reason to think the Czech forward will do much better than 15 points in 2020-21, as he'll have a limited role on a team that will likely struggle to put the puck in the net. As for non-scoring stats, Kampf isn't known to produce much in the way of hits or PIM, and he'll likely finish negative in plus-minus rating, so this is a player that most fantasy managers can live without.
Kampf was a regular in Chicago's bottom six last season, notching four goals and 15 assists in 63 games, but his value to the team is primarily as a penalty killer rather than a point producer, so there's no reason to believe that he'll suddenly breakout offensively in his third year with the Blackhawks in 2019-20. The 24-year-old forward can safely be disregarded in all fantasy formats.
Kampf got his first taste of NHL action in 2017-18, notching four goals and 11 points in 46 games with Chicago. The 23-year-old forward also spent some time in the minors, but he wasn't much more productive at the lower level, totaling seven goals and 18 points in 33 contests. Kampf will likely be a regular in the Blackhawks lineup this season, but he'll be skating in a bottom-six role, and he doesn't have much offensive upside to begin with, which means he won't be worth owning in the vast majority of fantasy formats.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Decision by Sunday?
RWFree Agent
November 15, 2025
Kampf and his agent hope to make a decision by Sunday regarding which NHL team he will sign with, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kampf was released Friday after going unclaimed through waivers. He has apparently narrowed his search down to three teams. While Kampf is not a scorer, the bottom-six forward is good on faceoffs and plays a great defensive role when on the ice.
