2025 Fantasy Outlook
McMichael enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024-25, scoring 26 goals and 31 assists, and was one of the biggest reasons why the Capitals turned into one of the season’s biggest surprises. The depth of the Capitals was one of their biggest strengths, but for McMichael's sake, it was rather unfortunate. The 24-year-old’s role fluctuated throughout the season, and he finished the year centering Washington’s third line behind fellow centers Dylan Strome and Pierre-Luc Dubois. Elevating himself past either of those two may prove to be a tough task, potentially limiting his production potential at even strength. He did finish the year on the Capitals’ top power play unit. There’s still a ton of room to grow for the young center, and there’s no reason to suggest McMichael can’t force his way into the Capitals' top-six and perhaps become a 30-40 type of player if he continues on this trajectory. Seeing-eye pass sets up line mate
McMichael picked up an assist Tuesday in a 3-2 OT win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
His assist was a thing of beauty. He nabbed a dump-in, and as he was about to carry it behind and around the net, McMichael passed back to Aliaksei Protas, who wired a one-timer into the open left side of the net. McMichael's off to a slow start this season and has one assist in four contests after recording 57 points and 177 shots in 82 regular-season games last year. He'll be fine.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2020
McMichael showcased some upside in 2023-24, scoring 18 goals and adding 15 assists in 80 games. He spent most of the year playing alongside Anthony Mantha and Aliaksei Protas, which accounted for the bulk of his production, but he also got to play in Washington's top six. The team's offseason acquisitions of Pierre-Luc Dubois and Andrew Mangiapane will likely result in McMichael starting 2024-25 in a bottom-six role. The 23-year-old McMichael inked a two-year, $4.2 million contract in July to prove himself. He has a good chance of establishing himself as a productive middle-six option, but surpassing his 33-point performance from last campaign will be challenging this season.
