Sent to Columbus
Columbus acquired Hreschuk as part of a three-team trade with Florida and Carolina on Monday. The team traded Max Domi (foot) to Carolina and a sixth-round draft pick to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Hreschuk was selected in the third round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He's tallied eight points with a plus-9 rating through 37 games during his freshman year at Boston College. The 19-year-old will likely spend another season or two at the collegiate level before discussing an entry-level deal.

Unlikely to sign before deadline
Hreschuk is not expected to sign with the Blue Jackets before Aug. 15, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Hreschuk's decision not to sign with Columbus will see him become an unrestricted free agent following that Aug. 15 deadline. Acquired as part of the Max Domi deal back in March of 2022, Hreschuk hasn't offered a ton of offensive upside during his four-year stint with Boston College, including the 2024-25 campaign in which he managed just two goals and seven helpers in 33 appearances for the Eagles.
