Michael Amadio

Michael Amadio

28-Year-Old CenterC
Ottawa Senators
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Amadio has posted back-to-back 27-point campaigns, and that's likely in line with what he should be expected to do after signing with the Senators in free agency. The 28-year-old is a fine middle-six forward who can also chip in on the second power-play unit. He occasionally saw second-line usage when injuries piled up in Vegas, and that remains a possibility in Ottawa given the fragility of some of the team's top-six players. Amadio is unlikely to put together a breakout year, but in deeper formats that focus exclusively on scoring, he's a passable bench forward. Read Past Outlooks

Sixth goal in March
COttawa Senators
March 27, 2025
Amadio scored a goal in Thursday's 4-3 win over Ottawa.
ANALYSIS
Amadio took off on a breakaway and squeezed a wrist shot through Cam Talbot's pads at 8:44 of the third period, and the goal stood as the game-winner. Amadio has at least 11 goals in each of his last four seasons, and since the start of March, he has six goals and three assists in 13 games. That's impressive output for a journeyman winger with just 23 points this season.

Amadio finally looked like he belonged in a full-time role in 2022-23, posting 16 goals, 11 assists, 99 shots on goal and 56 hits through 67 contests. He also picked up 10 points in 16 playoff outings to help the Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup. Amadio is best suited to play in the bottom six, and he's likely to be on the wing going forward, as Vegas is deep at his natural center position. Amadio could push for 30 points in a full campaign. His 16.2 shooting percentage last year wasn't outside his established norms, though he'll likely need to be a touch better as a playmaker to sustain his scoring numbers in 2023-24. Having said all that, the 27-year-old can probably still be left on the board in most fantasy formats.
The 24-year-old Amadio has seen his role on the Kings grow slowly but steadily in each of his three NHL seasons, and he even saw a semi-regular shift on the power play in 2019-20, but so far he hasn't turned the corner in his development. Despite a 50-goal, 98-point campaign in his final season in the OHL, Amadio fell to the third round of the 2014 draft due to concerns about his offensive upside, and that assessment has looked spot-on through his first 148 NHL games. He's got good size and skating ability and has more than held his own defensively and on the forecheck, but until he shows he can add a scoring spark to his profile, he'll be locked into a bottom-six role.
Amadio has spent the last two seasons bouncing between the AHL and NHL, managing only 10 goals and 21 points in 80 games for the Kings while being far more productive in the minors. The versatile forward can play center or wing, but profiles best on a checking line in either case, using his hockey IQ and solid physical skills to contribute in all three zones. As more veterans head out the door, a regular spot in the gameday lineup should open up for Amadio, but right now there's still no telling whether he'll blossom into a reliable fantasy asset.
In the OHL, Amadio was a monster, scoring 98 points in the 2015-16 season. That production hasn't come yet in the NHL, as he's posted eight points in 37 career games, but he's only 22 and is still learning how to play at the game's highest levels. He split time between Los Angeles and AHL Ontario last season, and it's likely that he'll be a fringe player for the Kings this season. He's a great option to have in a dynasty league setting, but he's still a year or two away from being able to help your season-long team.

Spot on top line secure?
CVegas Golden Knights
December 27, 2022
Amadio has racked up two goals and five points through three games since being promoted to Vegas' top line.
ANALYSIS
Amadio, who has often been a healthy scratch this season, has taken the opportunity to skate on the first line and run with it over the past three contests, suggesting he could hold onto that spot in the lineup even when players like Jack Eichel, who's sidelined with a lower-body injury, and Jonathan Marchessault, who's also dealing with a lower-body issue, are ready to return. The fact that Amadio is expected to skate on the No. 1 power-play unit for a second straight game Tuesday versus LA supports that notion.
