2026 Fantasy Outlook
Whaley had just one top-25 through his first 11 PGA Tour starts of 2025, but he turned the corner with a top-10 at the alternate event Puerto Rico Open and had a strong fall that was highlighted by a pair of T3 finishes to end up 75th on the points list. Overall, it was the best season for the 30-year-old sixth year Tour pro as he missed just six cuts across 30 events. His modest ball-striking leaves doubts on his ceiling, where he lost strokes off the tee and on approach for a second straight year. Whaley closed with a two-under 68 on Sunday at the Sony Open in Hawaii to finish five-under and tied for 40th.
ANALYSIS
Whaley gained 3.93 strokes putting throughout his week at Waialae Country Club, though he ranked just 63rd among the field in SG: Approach en route to hitting only 49 of 72 greens in regulation. Despite the pedestrian iron play, Whaley remains a cut-making machine, currently enjoying a stretch of 20 consecutive starts without a missed cut dating back to a T7 at last year's Corales Puntacana Championship. He'll look to extend the streak at The American Express this week.

Whaley struggled for much of 2024, but shined during the the opposite-field events going T18 in Puerto Rico, T23 in Punta Cana and second at the Barracuda Championship. The big issue with Whaley's consistency was his ball-striking as he ranked outside the top-150 in SG: Off-the-Tee and SG: Approach. The positive was his short game and putting, which ranked inside the top-30 in strokes gained for the season. That being said, until his ball-striking takes a leap forward his outlook for 2025 will be too uncertain.
