Hoey's maiden Korn Ferry Tour victory arrived not long after he began the 2023 season with top-10 results in half of his first 10 outings, eventually winning the Visit Knoxville Open in late May. The former University of Southern California standout becomes a PGA Tour rookie at 28 years old, and his patience could pay off in a big way if the driver continues to cooperate. Hoey fired a five-under 67 in the final round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic to surge into a tie for sixth place.

ANALYSIS
Detroit Golf Club played much tougher on Sunday than it had all week and Hoey's 67 was the round of the day. It moved him up 20 spots on the leaderboard as he tallied an eagle and five birdies against two bogeys. This was Hoey's best finish of the season and it comes after missed cuts in his last five starts. He will hope to carry this play into the John Deere Classic.
