Earns PGA Tour card

Clanton earned a PGA Tour card via the PGA Tour University Accelerated program with a T18 finish at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
ANALYSIS
It was a really special moment for Clanton and his family to be able to celebrate earning his card on Friday afternoon in his hometown after he made the cut to get to 20 accelerated points. Clanton didn't really have the weekend he was hoping for, but we've seen over the last nine months that he is certainly going to be a force to deal with over the next several years. Clanton can continue to accept sponsor invites, but he can't be exempt for PGA Tour events until the collegiate season ends in May. Clanton should have a weight lifted off his shoulders going into the Florida State season. He can defer his membership if he wants to stay in school for another year like Gordon Sargent did, the only other player to earn a card via the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. But the expectation is Clanton will turn pro after this current season at Florida State wraps up.
