2025 Fantasy Outlook
Thomas' 2024 was nowhere near as bad as some made it out to be. He recorded nine top-15 finishes despite failing to get back in the winner's circle for the first time since the PGA Championship in 2022. Thomas was left off the Presidents Cup team even with his incredible record in team events, so you know he's going to be fired up going into 2025 to make sure he leaves no doubt that he should be on the Ryder Cup squad for Bethpage. Thomas ranked 25th in SG: Total and 17th in adjusted scoring average in 2024. He was also ninth in SG: Approach and third in SG: Around-the-Green, but a career-low 174th in SG: Putting. That area will need to be better if Thomas is to return to being amongst the top players in the world. Read Past Outlooks
T22 in Genesis Scottish Open
Thomas fires a five-under 65 in the final round of the Genesis Scottish Open to finish in a tie for 22nd.
ANALYSIS
Thomas came into the Genesis Scottish Open riding high following his first top-10 since early May. With this momentum, it was not surprising that for many, he was one of the clear contenders heading into this week. But, after beginning his week with rounds of 69-70, Thomas slowly fell out of contention in part due to his average ball striking off the tee and inability to get enough putts to fall. In the first two rounds, Thomas only hit nine of 26 fairways and was only able to make six birdies. After another disappointing third round that saw a pair of birdies be whipped on the board thanks to a double bogey on hole eight, Thomas responded quickly out of the gates in his final round. After birding five of his first seven holes on Sunday, Thomas started to make a charge up the leaderboard. While his round stalled out on the back nine, he did enough to grab a top-25 finish. While this wasn't the week he was looking for, there are positives, like his strong iron and wedge play that saw him hit 71% of his greens in regulation, that he can take into The Open next week.

It goes to show you how good Thomas is at golf to have everyone think his game fell completely off the cliff while still earning over $3.5 million and finishing in the top-50 at the end of the season. Yes, Thomas had a tough campaign, but there's no reason to think that this will continue into this season. Thomas is simply too good to miss out on the top-30 going forward and as such, he's a must-have in salary cap formats. Thomas was averaging over $6 million per year in the six years prior to this past season and that was without elevated events.
