2025 Fantasy Outlook
The fan favorite has earned more playing time on the PGA Tour in 2025 after notching back-to-back wins at the Korn Ferry Tour's AdventHealth Championship and the Visit Knoxville Open this past May, guiding him to an eighth-place finish on the Points List. After winning those two events in sudden-death playoff fashion, Higgs' clutch gene guided him to a No. 2 ranking in final-round scoring average on the KFT. However, he made the cut in just three of his seven PGA Tour appearances in 2024, placing no better than a T30 at the World Wide Technology Championship. Read Past Outlooks
Earns spot at U.S. Open
June 4, 2024
Higgs made it through U.S. Open final qualifying in Durham, North Carolina to earn a spot at Pinehurst next week.
ANALYSIS
Higgs birdied his final two holes in the second round to make it into a 7-for-2 playoff at three-under-par. He then came out and birdied each of the first two holes in the playoff to ensure he claimed one of the seven spots available in Durham for the U.S. Open. Higgs has been on a roll lately winning two straight events on the Korn Ferry Tour, both of which were in playoffs. He looks poised to earn his PGA Tour card back at the end of the year. First things first will be his fourth major championship appearance and first at the U.S. Open. Higgs finished T4 at the 2021 PGA Championship and then T14 at the 2022 Masters.

Higgs finished the season with a cuts-made percentage below 50 percent, marking his third consecutive season where he missed the cut in more than half of the events he played. Consistency has been an issue for Higgs, who recorded one top-10 finish with a seventh at the Puerto Rico Open in March. The 31-year old is one of the worst players on tour in terms of SG: Off-the-Tee and SG: Approach to Green, but is an above average putter once he gets on the greens.
Higgs has shown flashes but really struggles with consistency. Exhibit A: a disastrous 16-over par performance at the Charles Schwab challenge. This past year, he made less than half of his cuts (13 of 30) and likely wouldn’t be fully exempt for next season if not for a T15 finish at Augusta in April. The 30-year-old American is a likable character outside the ropes, but he will need to improve his results on the course next year if he hopes to maintain his Tour card.
Higgs made the BMW Championship for the second straight season. He opened 2020-21 with a runner-up at the Safeway Open and his only other top-10 was a T4 at the PGA Championship. Higgs has shown flashes, but there are a lot of ball-striking inconsistencies in his game. Until he shows that, it is hard to seeing him take that next step to make it to East Lake.
After graduating from the Korn Ferry Tour, Higgs made 16-of-25 cuts and qualified for the BMW Championship as a Tour rookie. His best result came at the Bermuda Championship - an alternate field event where he finished runner-up. Higgs has a nice combination of good length and accuracy off-the-tee, but he finished outside the top 150 in SG: Approach. He'll need to improve his iron play in order to contend for titles more often. A reasonable season-long option with moderate upside.
Slated to become a PGA Tour rookie at age 27, Higgs endured a hefty schedule on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019 as he qualified for the weekend in an impressive 17 of 21 starts. He finished fifth on the Regular Season Points List thanks in large part to a win at the Price Cutter Charity Championship, but he also racked up five top-10s and 12 top-25s. Higgs, who rose to 12th in ball striking, ranked third in both putting and birdie average on the KFT. He led the PGA Tour Latinamerica in earnings throughout the 2018 campaign, commencing a success story that has resulted in Higgs vaulting as high as 146th in the OWGR.
