Zack Kuntz

25-Year-Old Tight EndTE
 Free Agent
2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Jets took a flier on Kuntz in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft after the 6-7 tight end impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.55-second 40-yard dash and 40-inch vertical jump. Aaron Rodgers praised the tight end out of Old Dominion in the offseason, and Kuntz will look to make the team out of training camp after spending his rookie season on the Jets' practice squad. There's some long-term potential here given his measureables, but Kuntz is unlikely to see meaningful playing time in 2024. Read Past Outlooks

Reverts to practice squad
TEFree Agent
December 16, 2024
Kuntz reverted to the Jets' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Kuntz made his 2024 regular-season debut Sunday against the Jaguars and served as the Jets' No. 3 tight end behind Jeremy Ruckert and Kenny Yeboah due to Tyler Conklin (personal) being sidelined. Kuntz ended up playing seven snaps (one on offense, six on special teams) and did not show up in the box score. Kuntz could be elevated for a second straight game if Conklin doesn't play in the Jets' Week 16 clash against the Rams on Sunday.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Kuntz dominated the NFL Scouting Combine leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, but it will likely take the rookie seventh-round pick some time to learn to use his intriguing mix of size and speed in the NFL, and he'll have to battle for a roster spot with three players ahead of him on the Jets' tight end depth chart. Measuring over 6-7, Kuntz is the tallest player to clear 40 inches on the vertical jump, and his 4.55-second 40-yard dash was also exceptional for a player of his size. Kuntz had seven touchdowns in 18 games at Old Dominion, but he barely saw the field in three years at Penn State before that.

Third-round pick per Reuter
TEFree Agent
April 9, 2023
Chad Reuter of NFL.com has Kuntz going to the Texans in the third round of his latest four-round 2023 mock draft.
ANALYSIS
Kuntz was once pegged as a Day 3 pick, but his draft stock has soared after a standout performance at the NFL Combine. The 6-foot-7 tight end out of Old Dominion ran a 4.55-second 40-yard dash to go with a 40-inch vertical. Houston signed Dalton Schultz in the offseason, so the Texans could allow Kuntz to develop in a backup role behind the established veteran if they draft the toolsy tight end.
