Griffin agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Seahawks, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Griffin, who suited up for all 17 regular-season games with Minnesota in 2024, now joins forces with Seattle on a one-year deal reportedly worth up to $4 million. The 29-year-old brings reliability and experience to the Seahawks' cornerback corps, and he'll likely spend training camp competing with Josh Jobe for the No. 3 gig behind starters Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon.

Griffin finished his 2023 campaign with Carolina after being waived by the Texans in November. The veteran corner appeared in a total of 13 games between the two teams, making 39 tackles and defending four passes, including his first interception since 2020. A Pro Bowler in 2019, Griffin will bolster Minnesota's depth in the secondary after signing a one-year contract worth up to $6 million. He'll compete with Akayleb Evans for a staring role opposite Byron Murphy Jr.
Griffin was limited to just five games for Jacksonville in 2022 due to a back injury, which reared itself during organized team activities early in the summer. The 28-year-old cornerback is a former Pro Bowler who will compete with Steven Nelson and Desmond King for the spot opposite Derek Stingley. Nelson was the primary starter last season, but there are no guarantees under the new coaching regime.
Griffin bounced back from his sophomore slump and was the clear No. 1 cornerback in Seattle, yielding 7.3 yards per target and four touchdowns over 14 games in 2019. He also racked up 65 tackles and 13 pass breakups. The 24-year-old will face competition from Quinton Dunbar to be the top dog in Seattle's secondary, but he'll have a consistent starting gig. A better pass-rushing presence would boost Griffin's upside, but for the time being, he'll have his hands full in a division with strong quarterback play.
The Seahawks wanted Griffin to step into the top cornerback spot after Richard Sherman left town, but he regressed and had difficulties in coverage. At times, rookie Tre Flowers even usurped him as the team's top corner. Griffin will look to bounce back against the strong NFC West offenses, which will be no easy task. His fantasy value is limited since he only totaled 23 pass breakups and three interceptions over the last two seasons, and the taste of last year's dud lingers.
With a stellar rookie season of 59 tackles (50 solo) and 15 pass breakups under his belt, Griffin will be handed more responsibilities in 2018. Richard Sherman signed with division rival San Francisco, which shifted Griffin from right to left cornerback for OTAs. Without Sherman, Griffin looks destined to line up against opposing team's top targets, which should boost his numbers further in his sophomore campaign.

Returns to Seattle on one-year deal
CBSeattle Seahawks
June 25, 2025
Griffin, who was selected by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, returned to the team on a one-year deal Wednesday, Brady Henderson and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com report.
ANALYSIS
The veteran cornerback's deal has a base salary of $3 million and can be worth up to $4 million with incentives. Griffin is expected to compete with Josh Jobe to fill the No. 3 cornerback role on the team with which he made the lone Pro Bowl appearance of his career in 2019 and from which he departed to the Jaguars as a free agent following the 2020 campaign.
