2024 Fantasy Outlook
Taylor was cut by the Patriots after training camp in 2023 then joined the Texans' practice squad after signing with the team in October. He's back on a reserve/future deal and will compete for a job behind No. 1 Joe Mixon and projected top backup Dameon Pierce, who didn't adapt well to a new scheme after a successful rookie season in 2022. The order behind Mixon is to be determined; however, Pierce received a vote of confidence from general manager Nick Caserio. That suggests Taylor will be in the No. 3 mix along with the system-experienced Dare Ogunbowale, sixth-round draft pick Jawhar Jordan and undrafted free agent British Brooks. Read Past Outlooks

Three touches in loss
RBHouston Texans
November 1, 2024
Taylor carried three times for 23 yards in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9.
ANALYSIS
Because the Texans were without Dameon Pierce (groin) for the game, the club signed Taylor to the 53-man roster, and he was on the field for six snaps. Dare Ogunbowale (29 snaps) moved up to second on depth chart while Taylor filled a similar role he had earlier this season when he was activated from the practice squad.

2020
Taylor has been with the Patriots since the 2020 season, but the 5-6, 190-pounder has yet to secure a steady role in the team's backfield. The 25-year-old logged saw action in just one game last year and approaches the coming campaign on the roster bubble while looking to secure slotting in a running back corps that also includes Rhamondre Stevenson, Pierre Strong, Kevin Harris and Ty Montgomery.
Since joining the team as a UDFA out of Arizona in 2020, Taylor has managed to carve out a depth role in New England's backfield, though last season he logged just 19 carries and four catches in the five games in which he suited up while working behind Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson and Brandon Bolden. Though Bolden has moved on, veteran change-of-pace back James White is poised to return from an injury that limited him to three games in 2021, and New England doubled down in the 2022 Draft by taking Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris. In such a crowded running back room, Taylor will have to compete for complementary work this summer, and unless personnel moves or injuries thin the ranks he's no lock to secure a roster spot.
With Sony Michel no longer in the mix, the 5-foot-6, 185-pound Taylor appears poised to stick as a shifty change-of-pace option behind top back Damien Harris. With pass-catching stalwart James White, power back Rhamondre Stevenson and special-teams ace Brandon Bolden also in the mix, Taylor doesn't have a path to steady volume, but the Arizona product has flashed playmaking ability when given touches and could emerge as a fantasy factor as the season progresses when injuries hit New England's backfield, or when game scripts favor his style of running.
Listed at 5-foot-5, 185 pounds, Taylor will compete for a depth change-of-pace role in the Patriots' backfield. Given the team's current running back options, however, the practice squad looks like a potential destination for the Arizona product, whose college resume includes kick-return experience.
