Jason Myers

33-Year-Old KickerK
Seattle Seahawks
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Myers is entering his sixth year as Seattle's kicker and 10th NFL season overall, coming off a 2023 campaign in which he led the league with 42 field-goal attempts but finished only seventh in fantasy scoring. He missed seven of those three-point tries -- including half of his eight kicks from 50-plus yards -- and tied for 17th in PAT tries (33) on a Seattle team that scored touchdowns on just 48.2 percent of red-zone trips (26th). Myers has a solid track record overall with an 85.5 percent career FG conversion rate, but he isn't one of the top kickers, nor is he attached to an offense that's likely to be one of the league's best. As such, he should be useful for streaming in favorable matchups but probably won't warrant every-week-starter status. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Myers had an extra point blocked in the second quarter, marking his first missed extra point since the 2022 season. He'll look to get back on track after the Seahawks' bye week when Seattle faces the 49ers in Week 11.

Seattle's offense was better than anyone had expected last year...apart from in the red zone where a 48.3 percent TD rate was sixth lowest. Myers thus doubled his FG total from 2021 and lost only three PATs, ultimately tying for third in kicker fantasy scoring while converting 91.9 percent of FGAs and all six of his tries from 50-plus yards. He's now at 85.9 percent for his career, including 67.4 percent from 50-plus, grading as an above-average kicker but not quite among the best. That might work for fantasy purposes if rookies Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Zach Charbonnet help QB Geno Smith avoid regression (or even continue his progression), though the Seahawks probably won't be so putrid in the red zone this year, forcing Myers to trade some FGAs for PATs (a la the Russell Wilson era).
Myers attempted just 23 field goals last season and 24 the year prior, with Seattle's offense declining overall but remaining efficient in the red zone. He could get more field-goal attempts this year, but PATs might be at a premium with Geno Smith replacing long-time quarterback Russell Wilson. Myers doesn't offer much from long range and probably won't get a ton of opportunities in a limited offense.
Myers was solid in 2019 and excellent in 2020, but his two seasons in Seattle haven't yielded a ton of three-point tries, as QB Russell Wilson has been efficient at scoring from distance and also effective in the red zone. The team context does give Myers a decent floor via PATs, and he's capable of hitting from distance when given the chance, converting 20 of 32 kicks from 50-plus yards through six seasons.
Myers parlayed his Pro Bowl 2018 season with the Jets into a four-year, $15.45 million contract with Seattle. He then missed five FGs in the regular season and two more in the playoffs, but the contract should protect him for at least one more year. While Myers is attached to an efficient offense, the slow pace of play combined with Russell Wilson's red-zone brilliance create a suboptimal context for FG volume.
Myers pulled off an impressive feat in 2018, tying for third in kicker fantasy scoring on a Jets team ranked 23rd in points and 29th in yards. His reward was a Pro Bowl appearance followed by a contract in Seattle, where the presence of Russell Wilson creates a path to a repeat performance. Granted, Myers struggled prior to last season, missing 15 field goals and 12 PATs in 38 games for Jacksonville in 2015-2017.
After playing just six games for the Jaguars in 2017, Myers was released when he missed two of three field goals Week 6, bringing his season mark to 73 percent with no makes over 50 yards. The Seahawks picked him up to be ready in case veteran Sebastian Janikowski can't return to his past self. However, if Janikowski can, Myers will hit the road.
Myers set career-highs in field-goal attempts and makes last year, though he struggled with his accuracy, finishing as one of nine kickers below 80 percent. That being said, five of his seven misses were from 50-plus yards, and he led the league with 12 attempts from that distance. The Jags' offense struggled as a whole, so even if Myers had made all of his 50-yarders, he still would have finished only 10th in scoring. The Jags appear ready to improve offensively this year, which could allow Myers to move up the scoring ranks, though he's unlikely to be a top option.
The Jaguars' offense improved significantly last season, which subsequently improved the kicking game, as 110 points from the position ranked 17th league-wide after finishing 32nd and 31st in the last two years, respectively, thanks to only 23 and 22 PAT attempts in those seasons. Myers' 86.7 percent field-goal accuracy ranked 14th, though he was the worst kicker in the league with the new extra point, hitting just 32 of 39. While hitting them all wouldn't have drastically improved his fantasy value, there's reason to believe he won't repeat the struggles, given that he hit 17-of-18 field goals from inside 40 yards last season. If the Jags' offense can continue to grow, Myers' fantasy production should follow.
Myers will be Jacksonville's placekicker after the team traded away Josh Scobee to the Steelers.

Gets extension after stellar season
KSeattle Seahawks
January 18, 2023
Myers signed a four-year contract extension with the Seahawks on Wednesday after earning his second Pro Bowl nod in five seasons, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Myers' new deal ties him to the Seahawks through 2026 and is reportedly worth up to $22.6 million with incentives. The 31-year-old was thought to be on thin ice entering this season after posting an underwhelming 73.9 percent success rate on field-goal attempts in 2021, but Myers bounced back to drill 34 of 37 field-goal tries and 41 of 42 extra-point attempts across 17 regular-season games before making his one field-goal attempt and his two PATs during the wild-card loss to the 49ers last weekend.
