Grupe won the Saints' kicker job as an undrafted rookie in 2023 and hasn't missed a game since, making 83.8 percent of field-goal attempts and 97.3 percent of PATS. He's been about average from long range -- going 12 of 17 from 50-plus yards and 15 of 18 from 40-plus -- and about average at converting the shorter stuff. Grupe was elevated to make his Colts debut during the team's Week 14 loss to the Jaguars, in which he converted both of his field-goal tries and his only extra-point attempt. With the team having cut Michael Badgley and with Spencer Shrader (knee) out for the year, Grupe figures to operate as Indianapolis' kicker for the remainder of the 2025 campaign, assuming he's able to keep up his consistency. Next on deck for Grupe and the Colts is a road matchup against Seattle on Sunday.

Grupe is small even by kicker standards, listed at 5-7, 156. That didn't stop him from catching on with the Saints as an undrafted rookie last year, nor did it stop him from making six of nine kicks from 50-plus yards. He also made each of his 40 PATs, though shorter field goals were a problem area with Grupe missing two of 12 tries inside 30 yards. He tied for eighth among kickers in fantasy scoring and figures to remain the Saints' starter in 2024, with potential benefits including home games played in a dome and a head coach (Dennis Allen) who routinely ranks among the least aggressive in going for it on fourth down.

Grupe has connected on all three of his field-goal attempts in preseason, but Smyth kicked the game-winning field goal against the Cardinals in the preseason opener and turned heads by hitting a 65-yard field goal in practice Tuesday.
