2024 Fantasy Outlook
Williams is coming off a lost 2023 season after tearing his ACL during an offseason workout. In 2022, he rushed 22 times for 109 yards and a touchdown while securing 13 of 14 targets for 61 yards. He also totaled 313 kick-return yards and 292 punt-return yards. Williams is competing with 2023 UDFA Carlos Washington for a 53-man roster spot, but the former's return abilities likely give him the upper hand. Read Past Outlooks
Remains limited to special teams
Williams played all 24 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Vikings, bringing back one punt for an 11-yard return.
ANALYSIS
The reserve running back logged 22 carries for Atlanta in 2022, but he's been deployed exclusively on special teams in 2024 with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier having both enjoyed good health this season. Williams has suited up in each of the Falcons' first 13 games and has gained 135 yards on 15 punt returns and 210 yards on 35 kickoff returns.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Williams was slated to be Atlanta's primary return man and a depth running back in 2023, but the 2021 fifth-round pick tore his ACL during an offseason workout and underwent season-ending surgery in June. In Williams' absence, Cordarrelle Patterson will presumably take over as the Falcons' primary kick returner, while Mike Hughes and Josh Ali compete for punt-return duties.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could see increased role in Week 2
With Damien Williams on IR due to a rib injury, Avery could see an increased role in Atlanta's offense moving forward, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Avery Williams transitioned from defense to running back this offseason and has excelled at his new position so far. He operated as the No. 3 RB behind Damien Williams and Cordarrelle Patterson during the season opener and could be in store for a promotion in Week 2 with Damien Williams ruled out. However, rookie fifth-round pick Tyler Allgeier is also a candidate to make his NFL debut and projects as a more likely option to fill in as the primary backup. The Falcons also elevated Caleb Huntley from the practice squad, but he's expected to be an emergency depth option.
