The Saints placed Carr (shoulder) on the reserve/retired list Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

It makes Carr's retirement official after he announced his plans to hang up his cleats last month. The quarterback's 2024 was marred by injuries, as he suffered a broken left hand and an oblique injury before revealing in April that he was dealing with a labrum issue in his throwing shoulder. The 34-year-old ends his 11-year career with 41,245 passing yards and 257 passing TDs, both marks ranking 22nd all-time in NFL history. The Saints are holding a three-way competition this summer to find Carr's replacement, involving 2025 second-round rookie Tyler Shough, 2024 fifth-rounder Spencer Rattler and 2023 fourth-round selection Jake Haener (oblique).
