Each week, RotoWire provides picks and values for FantasyDraft lineups. Users have a salary cap of $100,000 to select a lineup comprised of one quarterback, two running backs, two receivers, a tight end, two flex spots and one defense. The scoring is standard point-per-reception.
To roster some top-tier players in tournaments or in cash game lineups, you need some lower-priced sleeper options with upside. That's what we aim to bring you in this column.
Here are our fantasy football value picks for Week 14 on FantasyDraft.
QUARTERBACK
Blaine Gabbert, $10,100 vs. CLE
Believe it or not, Gabbert has actually been very good for DFS purposes. Chosen last week as an option in this column, we discussed how he had been consistent. That still holds true, as he has notched four straight games of at least 16.6 fantasy points on FantasyDraft. That is more than 1.6 times his salary, which is an excellent value in FantasyDraft's scoring format. Gabbert has at least one touchdown in every game, and his rushing ability gives him added value against the Browns in Week 14. Cleveland has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, including at least two touchdown passes in five straight games. At just $100 over the minimum, he's worth a tournament play as a low-owned option in a good matchup.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, $10,600 vs. TEN
Fitzpatrick continues to be undervalued, but his price never goes too high because of low ownership. At just $10,600, he only needs about 15 fantasy points for good value. Fitzpatrick has at least 14 in every game and at least 17 in eight of his 11 games. Fitzpatrick's ceiling is very high as well, reaching at least 28.8 points in each of the last two games and notching more than 26 points three times in his last seven contests. In Week 14, he faces the Titans who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, including at least one touchdown in every game.
RUNNING BACK
Danny Woodhead, $8,700 vs. KC
Woodhead has been a solid cash-game running back as a high floor pass catcher on FantasyDraft. With the full PPR scoring system, he holds weight in games in which the Chargers will be passing often. Woodhead has double-digit fantasy points in all but four games this season. He has caught at least four passes in eight games and at least three passes in all but four games. With the Chargers missing some top pass-catchers, Woodhead is expected to get more work, especially against a Chiefs pass-rush that causes quarterbacks to check down more often. The Chiefs have given up 46 catches on 68 targets to opposing running backs for 340 yards. Considering the Chiefs are one of the best run defending teams in the NFL, the Chargers will look to pass to beat them. This gives Woodhead a high snap total, which could equal more catches and fantasy points.
Frank Gore, $8,500 vs. JAX
Gore is another cheap play with a high floor as the Colts' featured back. Gore has at least 11 fantasy points in nine of the Colts' last 10 games. He has at least 14 touches in every game since Week 1, which makes him a safe option in cash games in good matchups. In Week 14, he faces the Jaguars in Jacksonville. The Jags have allowed at least 10 fantasy points in every game, making both sides of the matchup a consistent match. At only $8,500, Gore needs just over 12 fantasy points for solid value in cash games, which is highly attainable in a good matchup given his consistency.
WIDE RECEIVER
Golden Tate, $8,800 vs. STL
Tate has quietly been one of the safest receivers in DFS, scoring at least 10.3 fantasy points in five straight games and also in all but three games on the season. Tate has 67 catches in 12 games, which gives him a floor of five per game. Pair that with his yardage ability, and you have a solid, cheap cash game receiver. He has a relatively tough matchup against the Rams, who have given up the third fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers, but in terms of PPR, they are a team to target receivers against. St. Louis has allowed 152 catches to opposing receivers, including 44 in the last three weeks to the Ravens, Bengals and Cardinals. They have also given up 520 yards and four touchdowns in this stretch as well, giving Tate a perfect trend in terms of matchup.
Anquan Boldin, $7,800 vs. CLE
Boldin is another safe receiver, but he's $1,000 cheaper than Tate and can be stacked with Gabbert in tournaments. Boldin has five of 10 games with at least 14 fantasy points, but the other five games are in single digits. This makes him a tournament option in Week 14 against the Browns, who have given up 150 catches for 2,273 yards and 15 touchdowns to opposing receivers in 12 games. Cleveland has also allowed six touchdown passes to opposing receivers in the last three games. Given Boldin's price and matchup, he's worth picking along with Gabbert in tournaments on FantasyDraft for a combined price of under $18,000 against the cap.
TIGHT END
Will Tye, $5,500 vs. MIA
The price minimum on FantasyDraft at the tight end position is now $5,000, which makes lineup construction a lot easier if you choose a cheap tight end. The cheap one everyone will be on is Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and for good reason against the Saints. But if you want a contrarian option at the position, Tye is worth looking at based on his recent production since becoming the starter. Tye has 14 catches for 200 yards in the last three games, and he had at least 10 fantasy points in each. While that may not seem like much, at his salary of just $5,500 that is the same as a player at $10,000 scoring nearly 20 fantasy points. Tye has faced the Jets, Redskins and Patriots in these last three games. All three teams rank in the top eight in the NFL in defending the tight end. In Week 14 Tye faces the Dolphins, who are a middle-of-the-pack defense against opposing tight ends. Miami has allowed four games of more than 20 fantasy points to tight ends, which gives Tye a solid chance to be the fifth, as he has seen 25 targets in the last four games.
