Streaming is a fantasy basketball roster strategy that involves plugging in different players to your roster each week based on their short-term potential. Usually, most players who are streamed are not good enough to warrant a full-time roster spot. Instead, they're added by fantasy owners in search of production for only one or two weeks at a time. In weekly lineup leagues, players who are streamed usually have a high number of games in a given week.
For example, an owner planning to stream would likely cut a player with two games in favor of a player with four games. The expectation is that the four-game player would out-perform the two-game player in that given week. Fantasy owners who are experienced streamers will repeat this strategy on a near-weekly basis in an effort to maximize their total number of games played and, therefore, potential statistical output.
