Carlos Sainz Jr.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Sainz had his best season in Formula One last year scoring his first victory, 10 podiums, three pole positions, and finishing fifth for the second year in a row. Like teammate Leclerc, last year started brightly for Sainz with three podium finishes from the first five races. He similarly suffered from the squad's mid-season slump, though. In addition to the team's woes, Sainz endured four DNFs due to crashes and a further two more due to mechanical issues. Eliminating those would help him be a bigger player in the championship battle, which he should be capable of considering his pace. Sainz said that he has come to grips with this new generation of car and is looking to deliver more consistency in 2023. He will need the best from the team to be among the championship contenders, but at a minimum we would hope to see Sainz winning multiple races this season. Read Past Outlooks
Wins Mexico City Grand Prix
Formula One
October 27, 2024
Sainz has sealed an assured victory in the Mexico City Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver bouncing back after initially losing the lead to Max Verstappen to score a stunning fourth win in Formula 1.
ANALYSIS
Sainz would lose the lead after the lights out and chaos of turn 1, but the Ferrari star would soon rally back to the lead on lap 9. From there, Sainz would run a long opening stint to lap 32 and build up enough lead to pit and cycle right back into the lead. Down the stretch, Lando Norris would get past Charles Leclerc for second-place, but he could only get just within 5-seconds of Sainz as the laps expired. It would be the second victory of the season for the Ferrari veteran and fourth-career win.
