New Zealand vs. Bangladesh: First Test Preview

New Zealand vs. Bangladesh: First Test Preview

After whitewashing the Bangladeshi Tigers 3-0 in the ODI series, the Kiwis will look to put on yet another dominating performance on display as they take on the visitors in the first Test of the three match series at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

The Kiwis have a flawless record against Bangladesh in Tests as they have never lost against them. New Zealand were on top of Bangladesh both in terms of batting and bowling performance in the ODI series, and they will look to carry that momentum forward into this match as well.

Bangladesh had a disappointing outing in the ODIs as their batting lineup failed to stand up against the Kiwi pacers. Their bowling appeared to be toothless also, as they hardly troubled New Zealand's batsman. However, they had a pretty good outing in the practice match in which they notched up a first innings score of 411/6. Four of their batsmen in Shadman Islam, Liton Das, Mahmudullah and Mehedi Hasan scored half centuries, and they can draw inspiration from that.

Weather and Pitch conditions: Clear and Sunny Skies are in forecast throughout the five days of the match. The pitch will generally be good for batting but the moisture in the morning session will give the pacers enough purchase to trouble the batsmen.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-Keeper: BJ Watling (9 Cr)

Watling is the preferred choice for the wicket-keeper's slot. He can bat for long hours with intense concentration and hardly gives the bowlers any chance to get on

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-Keeper: BJ Watling (9 Cr)

Watling is the preferred choice for the wicket-keeper's slot. He can bat for long hours with intense concentration and hardly gives the bowlers any chance to get on top of him. His style of play might be very boring to the naked eye but is extremely effective from fantasy perspective.

Batsman: Kane Williamson (10.5 Cr)

Williamson is a no-brainer for this match. He is one of the best batsmen in the world at the moment and can score runs for fun on any day against this Bangladeshi bowling lineup.

All-Rounder: Colin de Grandhomme (8.5 Cr)

Grandhomme's bowling and batting style might not be very pleasing to the eye but he always does what he is supposed to do. He scores runs, he takes wicket and he does everything a captain wants from an all-rounder. He is the safest pick among all-rounders for this match.

Bowlers: Trent Boult (9.5 Cr)

Boult made the ODI series his own by claiming wickets for fun, and he is expected to do the same in this Test series as well. He is extremely lethal with the new ball. So watch out for his morning bursts of swing.

Captain: Kane Williamson

Vice-Captain: Trent Boult
