Edged out by Mateer
August 19, 2024
Echkaus will be the backup to John Mateer for the 2024 season, Greg Woods of The Spokane Spokesman-Review reports.
ANALYSIS
Although the quarterback battle was announced to be extended to this week, it looked like Mateer had the edge over Eckhaus as of late. Eckhaus transferred in from Bryant this offseason, totaling 8,527 passing yards (724-of-1,166), 75 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in his three-season starter tenure. The 6-foot play-caller will now be the second-string to Mateer for the season opener against Portland State but, as always, anything can happen in a long season of college football.
