Boyd will enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Boyd is a strong candidate to be one of the first five receivers selected in this draft, perhaps as soon as the late first round. There isn't much in his game that screams of obvious WR1 upside -- he isn't overly big at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, and he doesn't show burning speed on tape -- but Boyd still profiles as a standout starting wide receiver in the NFL thanks to an adequate size-athleticism profile that is supplemented by elite college production. Boyd dominated even in his true freshman year, and by the end of his three seasons at Pittsburgh (38 games) he caught 254 passes for 3,361 yards (13.2 YPC) and 21 touchdowns, adding 520 yards and a touchdown as a runner. Impressive as those numbers are, they would have been better if Boyd hadn't dealt with poor quarterback play the last two years -- Tom Savage's 2,958-yard, 21-touchdown season in 2013 was by far the best Boyd had seen from the quarterback position at Pittsburgh. So long as Boyd doesn't flop at the Combine, he ought to project as similar to what Miles Austin was at his peak.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2014
Despite a low-volume passing game, Boyd posted elite numbers the last two years, finishing his true freshman season with 85 catches, 1,174 yards and seven touchdowns before improving to 78 receptions for 1,261 yards and eight touchdowns last year. At 6-2, 190, Boyd has the size to pose a red-zone threat -- he turned five of seven red-zone targets into scores last year -- but he is also a dangerous open-field runner. Boyd has a high floor, and his upside will reach new heights if Pittsburgh throws a bit more often under new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney.
Boyd impressed as a true freshman last year, outproducing formidable senior wideout Devin Street and immediately becoming one of the country's most dangerous receivers. At 6-2, 185, Boyd displayed excellent all-around skills last year, showing both possession-receiver reliability (85 catches) and major big-play ability. In addition to his 1,174 receiving yards (13.8 YPC) and seven touchdowns, Boyd added 108 yards (9.8 YPC) and a touchdown on the ground and returned a punt for a touchdown. Although the departure of QB Tom Savage might be a concern, it's not likely to slow Boyd. Savage was not an efficient passer, and any drop-off from Savage to likely new starter Chad Voytik should be offset by increased targets as a result of Street's graduation.
