Past Fantasy Outlooks

2013
If Hill was guaranteed to play a full season, he'd be a top-3 QB. Durability has been a problem, however, with 15 career missed games the cost of his heavy rushing workload. He tore an LCL in 2012 and broke his left leg last season, both season-ending injuries. When he suffered the latter he ranked first among quarterbacks in rushing touchdowns (7) and was third in rushing yards per game (107.0). A healthy season in 2013 gave a glimpse of his true potential as he threw for 19 touchdowns and ran for 1,344 yards and 10 more scores in 13 games. If he stays healthy, Hill should continue to post elite rushing numbers throwing to a talented group of receivers.
Durability is a concern because Hill takes a lot of hits as a running QB in BYU's uptempo offense, but his weekly potential is enormous. He managed to stay healthy for all 2013, and fantasy owners who gambled on him reaped huge awards. Although he's not a good passer (19 TD, 14 INT in 2013), Hill produces at an elite level as a runner, finishing last season with 1,344 yards (5.5 YPC) and 10 touchdowns. He brings back his entire offensive line this year and has a strong wideout duo to throw to in Jordan Leslie and Mitch Mathews.
Hill is a running quarterback an offense that figures to be uptempo with a high play count. That means he's a risk for injury, but it also means he should have huge fantasy upside. Hill was promising before an LCL tear occurred in October, piling up 295 yards (6.4 YPC) and two touchdowns in roughly 2.5 games while throwing for 389 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions over the same span. Two of those three games were against very tough defenses in Boise State and Utah State, so those were not garbage time numbers. Between his running ability and the presence of elite wideout Cody Hoffman, Hill should post big numbers are long as he's on the field. Just make sure you have good backups if you pick him.
