Active during fall camp
Hilinski (knee) is an active participant in Northwestern's fall camp, Bradley Locker of Inside NU reports.
ANALYSIS
Hilinski, who sat out some of 2022 and all of spring 2023 with a knee injury, is finally back and ready on the field. Before injuries kicked in, he completed 144 of 247 passes for six touchdowns and 1,644 yards across his eight games in 2022. While that does suggest Hilinski can be Northwestern's primary quarterback again, the competition is a lot more fierce. Brendan Sullivan impressed during Hilinski's absence, and the team brought in Ben Bryant (who logged 2,732 passing yards in 2022) from Cincinnati.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Hilinski wasn't impressive when given a shot at the starting job last year as he completed 54 percent of his passes with three touchdowns. Hilinski was among a trio of quarterbacks who struggled last season as Northwestern had some of the worst quarterback play in the nation. While Hilinski should improve based on his play at South Carolina before transferring, Northwestern may want to change the page entirely and go with a younger player. Still, he's the leading candidate for the starting job.
