Will return to UNC for 2025
Johnson (knee) will return to UNC for the team's 2025 season, Pete Thamel of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Before the UNC-Minnesota game, 2024 was expected to include Johnson's last season as a collegiate athlete. But after suffering his knee injury, he can medically redshirt this year and try to play college football again during 2025. Johnson will do both, the latter for UNC.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
Johnson is competing with Haynes King for a starting quarterback position with Texas A&M in 2022, and while he may be new to the Aggies, this would not be his first time earning a starting position with a team. Johnson was QB1 with LSU last season, and he threw for 2,815 yards with 225 completions, a 60.3 percent completion rate, 27 touchdowns and six interceptions. Johnson’s experience may give him an advantage as one of the quarterback contenders, as this is something that the Aggies severely lacked last season. The quarterback competition for coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies lasted until the week before the first game in 2021, and it would be no surprise if Johnson found himself in a similar situation this season as well.
