ANALYSIS
Elzy was reported to be no longer with the program shortly after he was ruled out for Illinois' thrilling win over USC. The wide receiver was never able to secure a consistent role with the Illini, and given that he's only played in four games this season, he'll chalk 2025 up as a redshirt year and look to relocate for his senior season.

Receiving praise early in camp
Elzy has garnered praise from the coaching staff early in camp, Jeremy Werner of 247Sports reports. "Really proud of him and the summer he's had," wide receivers coach Justin Stepp said. "The biggest thing with Malik, and the word we talk about, is being consistent and bringing it every single day: meeting room, practice field, whatever the case may be. He's had a really good summer, and he's had three really good days so far."
