Devin Brown suffered an undisclosed injury that prematurely ended his performance in the 2023 Cotton Bowl. So without him available, Ohio State used Kienholz, who played in relief thrice across the Buckeyes' last four games this season. He logged 10 completions for 111 yards across his three matchups. While not bad, they weren't inspiring, so a healthy Brown returning as Ohio State's primary quarterback would not be surprising.
