ANALYSIS
McConkey would have had the option of sticking around in Athens for a fifth year in 2024, but he'll instead embark on a professional career after a productive run with Georgia. After redshirting as a true freshman in 2020, McConkey proceeded to make starts in 30 of his 39 appearances over his final three seasons with the Bulldogs, tallying 119 catches for 1,687 yards and 14 touchdowns to go with 13 carries for 216 yards and four more scores.

McConkey returns to Georgia for his junior season as the leading returning receiver, though the circumstances at Georgia have changed slightly. McConkey collected 58 catches for 762 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore, while also rushing seven times for 134 yards and two more scores during yet another championship season for the Bulldogs. No other Georgia wideout had more than 29 catches. However, Mizzou transfer Dominic Lovett brings his talents to Athens, fresh off a season where he caught 56 passes for 846 yards. McConkey and Lovett are extremely similar in size and skill set. The Bulldogs also brought in Rara Thomas from Mississippi State; Thomas caught 44 passes for 626 yards and seven touchdowns at MSU last season. In other words, McConkey may have much more competition for targets in 2023. Not to mention the fact that Georgia will be working in a new quarterback in the form of Carson Beck, as Stetson Bennett has finally taken his talents to the next level. As such, McConkey may have difficulty repeating his standout statistics from a season ago.
