2025 Fantasy Outlook
Hoover is one of the top returning quarterbacks in the Big 12 after throwing for a TCU single-season record of 3,949 yards in 2024. He ended the year on a high note with four touchdowns in a dominant 34-3 bowl win against Louisiana. The Horned Frogs' gunslinger plays with a lot of confidence and commonly has 40-50 passing attempts per game. A weakness to watch is his tendency to throw interceptions, as he has 20 total over the last two years, though just 11 on 471 pass attempts last season isn't too bad. There are some new receivers in town this year, with Joseph Manjack and Jordan Dwyer coming over in the portal, with stars Savion Williams and Jack Bech both off to the NFL. These two will join Eric McAlister, who is anticipated to be Hoover's top target in a dynamic offense. With a deeper supporting cast and great offensive coaches, Hoover could have a monster fantasy season and is expected to contend for top conference honors, and could find his way into darkhorse Heisman territory if everything falls right for the Horned Frogs as a team. Costly turnovers in loss
Hoover was 20-for-32 passing for 242 yards and two interceptions during Friday's 27-24 loss versus Arizona State. He also had nine rushes for -38 yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Hoover also had a lost fumble on a strip sack for three total turnovers against Arizona State. That's more than he had in all three combined games prior to playing the Sun Devils. The story of the game was Arizona State's domination of TCU's offensive line. Hoover was under pressure for the majority of the game and there was no room for the running game. To make matters worse, Eric McAlister tweaked something in warm-ups and left early in the game. Hoover and the Horned Frogs will look to forget this game as they plan to host Colorado next week.
