2024 Fantasy Outlook
Following Blake Corum's departure and many key players in Michigan's offense moving on to the next level, Edwards will have plenty of opportunities to lead the reigning champs. The 6-foot-1 running back tied for fourth-most on the team in receiving yards this past season, and only one of the top five pass catchers in receiving yards, tight end Colston Loveland, returns as a to Ann Arbor in 2024. Edwards could thus be an even bigger factor in a passing game that exhibits several holes. The changing of the guard under center from first-round pick J.J. McCarthy to likely Alex Orji also means there could be added emphasis on the ground game. Edwards could be relied on heavily on the ground, especially at the start of the season, as Orji gets his feet under him in his first stint as a starter. Read Past Outlooks
Sitting out bowl game
Lower Body
December 15, 2024
Edwards (leg) announced Saturday that he will opt out of playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl versus Alabama on Dec. 31 and begin preparations for the 2025 NFL Draft, Alex Crescenti of 7 News Detroit reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Edwards was unable to finish out Michigan's Week 14 win over Ohio State due to an apparent leg injury, his decision to sit out the bowl game likely has more to do with protecting himself from a new injury that could affect his draft stock. After compiling 746 yards and five touchdowns in a supporting role behind star tailback Blake Corum in Michigan's undefeated 2023 season, Edwards was unable to take much of a step forward as a senior in 2024, despite Corum's departure. Edwards appeared in 12 games for the Wolverines, finishing with 589 yards and four touchdowns on 128 carries to go with 18 catches for 83 yards and another score. With Edwards out for the bowl game, Kalel Mullings should be locked in as the Wolverines' clear lead back.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Edwards is primed to emerge into a larger role heading into his sophomore season with Michigan. The former top-100 recruit was relegated to a very limited role as a rusher behind primary backs Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum in 2021; though, Edwards did finish as Michigan’s fifth-leading receiver with 265 yards on 20 catches over 27 targets last season. With Haskins departed for the NFL, Edwards will still likely slot in behind Corum in Michigan’s pecking order at running back. The Wolverines leaned back into the ground game this past season and will return three of their five starting offensive lineman while also welcoming highly coveted center Olusegun Oluwatimi via the transfer portal. Therefore, the Wolverines should once again figure to utilize a prolific rushing offense while relying on one of the Big Ten’s most dynamic running-back duos between Corum and Edwards.
