Henry announced Thursday that he will enter the 2016 NFL Draft, ESPN's Joe Schad reports.
ANALYSIS
Henry's announcement to leave a year early doesn't come as a major surprise given his immense workload this season versus the ever present concern of a finite amount of "tread on the tires" for prospective NFL running backs. He smashed SEC records this season with 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns on an astounding 395 carries. Henry is massive for a running back prospect at 6-foot-3, 242 pound, but he showed a surprising amount of burst and agility to complement his physical running style. Durability has not been a concern to this point for Henry after he held up so well to a massive workload that saw him accrue over 100 rushing attempts in a two-game span late in the season, but it could be a question during the draft process after so many carries in 2015. He likely profiles as a second-round pick and many talent evaluators have him ranked behind Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott as the second-best running back in this year's crop.

With T.J. Yeldon gone to the NFL, Henry will finally get his chance to take over the Alabama backfield this year. Perhaps the nation's most intimidating size-speed specimen, the 6-3, 242-pound Henry has an enormous build for a running back, yet he has the long speed and explosiveness most backs 40 pounds lighter wish they had. It only took 205 carries the last two years for Henry to gain 1,372 yards -- 6.7 yards per carry -- and 14 touchdowns. Henry had 172 carries last year and could push for 220 this year as Yeldon leaves 194 behind.
