Dante Moore

QuarterbackQB
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Moore's college journey has taken a few twists and turns. After being named the best recruit of his class by Sports Illustrated, Moore initially chose Oregon as his destination, but eventually flipped his commitment to UCLA. Although many speculated that he would start as a true freshman, coach Chip Kelly had other plans and named Ethan Garbers to start the season. Although Moore would eventually get the starting nod after Garbers' injury, his play was erratic. The blue-chip prospect committed nine interceptions in his freshman season and often held onto the ball for too long. He was sacked 21 times as a Bruin, including a game against Utah where he was sacked seven times. Moore entered the transfer portal and returned to the Ducks, spending the season as the backup to Dillon Gabriel. Moore had a full season to learn OC Will Stein's system and was the presumptive frontrunner for the starting job entering the spring. Unfortunately for Moore, redshirt freshman Austin Novosad has looked exceptional in spring practice and is pushing hard to overtake him as the starter. Although Moore is still the favorite to start Week 1, there will be a close competition for the role that will linger into August. The receiving options in Eugene also took a hit this offseason, losing Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden and tight end Terrance Ferguson to the pros and Evan Stewart to a potentially season-ending knee injury, so there is plenty to replace there as well. Still, this is a team chock-full of talent. Moore seems the slight favorite, and the upside here for Moore at the head of a Ducks offense that typically ranks among the best in college football makes him worthy of a selection relatively early in fantasy drafts. However, it may not be a bad idea to hedge bets and grab Novosad as a flier late to ensure the starting quarterback is rostered, given the relatively high draft capital required to get Moore.
