Declares for NFL Draft
RBNo Current School
January 15, 2020
Edwards-Helaire declared for the 2020 NFL Draft on Wednesday, Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Junior running back rushed 215 times for 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns while adding 55 receptions for 453 yards and another score during this past season. Considering he's a bit undersized, Edwards-Helaire will rely on impressing scouts during the NFL Combine and LSU's pro day. His departure could open up additional opportunities for Tyrion Davis-Price, John Emery and Chris Curry, though it's Davis-Price who appears best positioned to take over lead back reps.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Edwards-Helaire remained on the losing end of the timeshare with Nick Brossette last season, but that doesn't mean he wasn't productive. Edwards-Helaire rushed for 658 yards and scored seven times on the ground. With Brossette graduating, Edwards-Helaire would appear to have the inside track at the starting running back job. However, the Tigers have a stable of backs right behind him, including Lanard Fournette, Chris Curry and incoming freshmen John Emery and Tyrion Davis. Edwards-Helaire should start, but whether he keeps that job remains to be seen.
