Entering draft, sitting out bowl
Akers announced via Twitter that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft. He won't play in Florida State's Sun Bowl matchup with Arizona State on Dec. 31.
ANALYSIS
The former top recruit will head to the NFL ranks after a successful three-year career in Tallahassee. Akers saved his best for last, too, as his junior season was easily his best. He ran for 1,144 yards and 14 touchdowns and added 30 receptions for 225 yards and four receiving touchdowns, displaying a complete skill set. 2020 is stacked in terms of top-end running back talent so Akers will have his work cut out for him in cracking that tier but the impressive junior season and a good combine will help his cause.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Akers was anointed as the next great FSU running back before he got to campus and his strong 2017 suggests he can reach that level. The uber-talented Akers instantly took the top role and ran for 1,025 yards and seven TDs. Florida State will be installing a run-heavy system under Willie Taggart that incorporates spread concepts to stress defensive fronts in a way that Jimbo Fisher's pro scheme didn't. This means that not only is Akers physically ready to take his game to another level, but he'll also be put in more situations to rip chunk yardage. Look out.
