Brant Kuithe

Brant Kuithe

Tight EndTE
Utah Utes
2024 Fantasy Outlook
It may be difficult to remember back to the 2021 season, Kuithe's fourth with the Utes, but he looked dominant connecting with Cameron Rising, compiling 50 grabs for 611 yards and six touchdowns. He was well on his way toward a promising season and the NFL Draft in 2022 when he suffered a torn ACL in Week 4, finishing the year with 19 catches for 206 yards and three touchdowns despite the limited action. A longer recovery than expected kept Kuithe from the field for all of 2023 as well, but he returned to action during the spring and appears primed for a big season. Aiding his cause is the return of Rising, who missed the 2023 season as well due to injury. The tight end position has long been one of importance in the Utes' offense, producing a recent draftee in former teammate Dalton Kincaid, and Kuithe has a chance in 2024 to get his name back on NFL draft boards. Totals 73 yards at Utah State
September 15, 2024
Kuithe hauled in 3 of 5 targets for 68 yards during Saturday's 38-21 victory over Utah State.
ANALYSIS
Kuithe was one of nine receivers to grab a catch from true freshman QB Isaac Wilson. Wilson received the start with Cameron Rising recovering from a hand injury sustained against Baylor. Kuithe is Rising's favorite target, so it will be interesting to see if the star QB is back for a pivotal matchup at Oklahoma State this next week.

Kuithe’s future was in doubt after a devastating knee injury sidelined him, but after over a year of rehab, Kuithe will return for a sixth season. Although he considered making a run for the NFL Draft, the outstanding year Dalton Kincaid had in his stead made Kuithe’s previous dominance a distant memory in the minds of NFL scouts. Cameron Rising loves to throw to his tight ends, so Kuither will make the best of his chance to impress. With Kincaid gone, the top job is Kuithe’s to lose, and if his knee responds well, he’ll step right back into the offense.
Utah was already tight-end heavy with its offensive philosophy and that could be even more apparent this year after the Utes lost some talent at receiver. Kuithe logged career-highs across the board in every major receiving category and his receptions spiked to 50 after a previous career-high of 34. Fellow tight end Dalton Kincaid is also a factor after catching eight touchdowns last season, but Kuithe’s role is secure nonetheless. Utah’s offense can support multiple tight ends and Kuithe is the first one to target while Kincaid is a worthy pick later in drafts.
This time last year, Kuithe was considered a Top 3 player at his position. He’s not being drafted as such this year, but it’d be a mistake to overlook him. Kuithe’s lack of touchdown production stands out as he had zero after scoring nine in 2019, but that metric isn’t always sticky year-over-year, and if anything, Kuithe’s bad touchdown luck with a 25 percent target share makes him a candidate for positive regression. He gets the added bonus of better quarterback play this season with Baylor transfer Charlie Brewer, too. Don’t let 2020’s bad luck steer you off Kuithe.
